Earth Observation
for Education
Earth Observation for Education (EO4Edu) is an Erasmus+ project that will run from Autumn 2020 until Summer 2023.
Enabling teachers
EO4Edu will develop resources and provide training for teachers, first and foremost, enabling them to develop lessons within existing curricula that involve all of the components of this project. Training courses will also be developed for instructors in non-school institutions, and students and pupils. The components of EO4Edu include the principles of remote sensing, geospatial science, global citizenship and satellite Earth Observation (EO).
STEAM education
While looking at applications for STEM curricula, we also recognise the contribution of the Arts reflected in the consolidation of the term “STEAM Education” and will be developing physical an online versions of an art exhibition as part of the project.
Citizen Science
Citizen science is an important element of the project. The use of mobile apps to enable the collection of environmental data will promote the concept of global citizenship and our collective responsibility for the change required to protect and enhance our shared natural environment.
UN's Sustainable Development Goals
We are particularly interested in developing resources that promote the application of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the curricula.
EO4Educators 2023 International Summer School on Earth Observation for Educators
This summer school is the perfect opportunity for scientists, teachers, and educators to exchange ideas, learn about modern teaching methods around Remote Sensing/Earth Observation (EO) and to exploit the results of the EO4Edu project.
